Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA)

Open to all athletic administrators with two years of athletic administrator experience in a public or private school setting that serves grades 6-12 and additional qualifying criteria. Through the NIAAA accredited program the candidate must complete a series of five courses that provide in depth study of skills with a specific focus in athletic administration. Upon completion of the courses the candidate is required to pass an exam which culminates in the bestowment of a credential that signifies the holder has met specific standards for the job. They will be granted all rights and privileges of a national board certified, Certified Athletic Administrator.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Two (2) or more years of experience as an athletic administrator
• Employed or retired from a school, school district or state athletic administration association, or state athletic/activities association in such capacity that the administration of interscholastic athletics is (was) among one's job responsibilities
• Completion of NIAAA Leadership Training Courses 501, 502, 503, 504 and 506. College and University course work will not be accepted unless the curriculum incorporates the entire content of the required Leadership Training Course
• Obtain the verifying signature of a principal, superintendent or state athletic administrators association executive director
• Read and abide by the NIAAA Code of Ethical and Professional Standards
• Candidate must provide copy of a course completion certificates before taking the CAA exam, or submit an NIAAA transcript available through the membership portal
• Approval of Personal Data Form (PDF)
• Successfully complete CAA examination

The CAA examination is available for you to take online with a digital proctor. We host the exams through ProctorU and charge an additional $42.50 for this option. Please make sure to indicate that you would like to use ProctorU to take your exam when filling out the personal data form.
