Follow these steps to start your Student Scholarship nomination.

You can click this button to begin creating a nomination. Create Nomination

  1. Enter Student information — include all required fields:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Email Address
    • Gender
    • State (enter "AK" if international)
    • Title (e.g. "Student")
  2. Click "Create" to save the nomination.
  3. Click Invite Nominee to Co-Edit to invite the nominee to co-edit the nomination. They will receive an email with a link to the nomination.

  4. Complete all criteria and submit by your State Deadline: N/A.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Nominee (Student):
  • Complete all criteria
  • Mark as "Ready to Submit" for nominator review
  • Nominator can then review and submit
As the Nominator:
  • Complete all criteria in the nomination/application
  • Submit when complete

Nomination Workflow

After submission, a Student Scholarship nomination progresses through the following stages:

  1. Submitted — The nominator submits the completed nomination.
  2. Approved by State — A State Approver reviews and advances the nomination.
  3. Approved by Section — A Section Approver reviews and advances the nomination.
  4. Open for Evaluation — An NIAAA Admin opens the nomination for evaluation by the NIAAA board.
  5. Evaluated — Student Scholarship Evaluators score the nomination.

NIAAA Student Scholarship nominations progress through state → section → national levels.

Deadlines vary by state and section. The dates shown in the "Creating a Nomination" section above reflect your state and section deadlines, if available.

  1. State Review — After the state deadline, the State Approver for your state reviews submitted nominations and advances selected ones to Approved by State. State Committee Members have read-only access to nominations in their state during this phase.
  2. Section Review — The Section Approver reviews state-approved nominations and advances selected ones to Approved by Section. Section Committee Members have read-only access to nominations in their section during this phase.
  3. National Evaluation — An NIAAA Admin opens section-approved nominations for evaluation. Student Scholarship Evaluators can then view and score these nominations in the app. Evaluators can only access nominations that have been set to Open for Evaluation.
International Committee Members

International Committee Members have read-only access to Student Scholarship nominations. They can view nomination details but cannot advance or modify nominations.
